Doing the eight temples in the traditional sequence saves several hours of driving.

The eight Ashtavinayak temples sit across Pune, Raigad and Ahmednagar districts. Visited in the wrong order, the circuit becomes a great deal of backtracking.

The traditional sequence

  1. Moreshwar, Morgaon
  2. Siddhivinayak, Siddhatek
  3. Ballaleshwar, Pali
  4. Varadvinayak, Mahad
  5. Chintamani, Theur
  6. Girijatmaj, Lenyadri
  7. Vighneshwar, Ozar
  8. Mahaganapati, Ranjangaon

The yatra is traditionally completed by returning to Morgaon.

Practical route planning

Over three days the sensible grouping is: Morgaon–Siddhatek–Theur on day one, Ranjangaon–Ozar–Lenyadri on day two, and Mahad–Pali on day three, closing at Morgaon. Lenyadri involves a climb of about 300 steps, so plan it for the cooler part of the day.
